Testing standards for non-destructive testing

In contrast to destructive material tests, non-destructive tests do not damage the test object. This is important in order to be able to inspect components and materials for defects both before they are used and in the finished product. Examples are bridges, airplanes and gas pipelines, which have to be regularly teste…d during operation, normally according to certain testing standards for non-destructive testing.
